AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX Overclocked to 5.9GHz on LN2

Ryzen Threaderipper WX2900WX Overclock

The user IvanCupa on Hwbot has just succeeded overclocking an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX overclocked CPU to 5.955GHz using liquid nitrogen. This almost 6GHz is welcomed confirmation of the overclocking potential the new Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series are able to muster. Since the 2990WX run as about 3GHz out of the box, this overclocked was an almost 100% increase in clock speed over base clocks.

What’s especially impressive was that this overclock was achieved with all 32 cores enabled. The hardware used to achieve these insane speeds was an MSI X399 MEG Creation motherboard. Memory used was a single 8GB module of DDR4. It will be interesting to see where this processor ends up taking us as it has only been a few days since it’s release. If you find any faster clocks in the wild, be sure to let us know!

Here are some of the successful screenshots of the Threadripper 2990WX Overclocked to almost 6GHz submitted by IvanCuppa.
