Every quarter, Backblaze releases their hard drive failure rate statistics to the public. Why is this data useful? By looking at hard drive failure rates, we can develop trends with certain drive types or even manufactures. For me personally, this is incredibly useful when purchasing a new spinner disk since reliability is always a factor. Backblaze specializes in enterprise/personal backup solutions so you can bet they go through a LOT of hard drives. This, in turn, provides a very large sample size to pull accurate data.
