Minecraft Getting NVIDIA RTX Update

Minecraft popularity is a result of its creative potential and not for its breathtaking graphics. However, folks at Microsoft and NVIDIA are hoping to change that stigma by officially announcing NVIDIA RTX support for a future release of the creative crafting game. NVIDIA RTX real-time ray-tracing will now be used to live render realistic rays of light using path-tracing, global illumination, shadows, ambient occlusion, as well as reflective surfaces.

“Ray tracing sits at the center of what we think is next for Minecraft. RTX gives the Minecraft world a brand-new feel to it. In normal Minecraft, a block of gold just appears yellow, but with ray tracing turned on, you really get to see the specular highlight, you get to see the reflection, you can even see a mob reflected in it.” -Saxs Persson, Franchise Creative Director of Minecraft at Microsoft
