Netgear has just released details surrounding the newest addition to the Nighthawk Pro lineup. The Nighthawk XR700 gaming router will be a step above the XR500 launched earlier this year. The new router will bring many enhanced features and will be a perfect pair to the SC10 10Gb switched that was recently introduced.
The Negear Nighthawk XR700 gaming router is backed by some pretty impressive hardware. Wireless supprot is provided by an Annapurna Labs AL-314 SoC along with 802.11ac / 802.11ad radios from Qualcomm. With wireless speeds this… speedy, wired support is also high end. The XR700 features a single 10G SPF+ port with an included direct attach cable. A Netgear AXM765 SPF+ module for conversion to 10GBASE-T Ethernet can be purchased separately. Software support is provided by DumaOS firmware which is developed by Netduma. DumaOS is a powerful router OS which supports advanced QoS features with many gaming options.
The Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR700 is designed for the very best in gaming performance. Its cutting-edge software and bleeding-edge hardware gives you total control over your home network. The XR700 allows you to stabilize your connection, kick lag spikes to the curb and concentrate on what matters, your gaming. Never fight over who’s hogging the bandwidth again with networking controls that let you prioritize all the way to the packet level.
The already released XR500 contains many of these features already, but the main difference between the XR500 and the XR700 is strictly hardware based.
The Nighthawk XR500 is branded as a “gaming router” therefore it is equipped with some features that might appeal to the online gamer. According to Netgear, some of these features include:
No word as to when the units will become available, however MSRP for the Nighthawk XR700 will be $499.99 (USD).
I still need to get me a quality router such as one of the Netgear Nighthawks.
