Fractal Design Define R6 Gets a Major Update

A major revision of the Fractal Design Define R6 computer case was released that incorporates USB 3.0 Type-C and tempered glass side panels. Additionally, Fractal Design also released a few useful accessories for existing Define R6 case owners to purchase to make the case even more functional such as hard drive brackets.

Any modern motherboard will provide support forUSB 3.0 type-C or USB 3.1 Gen 2 which is something the first generation of Fractal Design Define R6 cases lacked. This new update pushes the case into the modern era making it fully compatible with that brand new motherboard. The front panel now has support for a single USB 3.0 type C and four USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports which deliver a blazing 10Gbps data transfer speed.

The tempered glass side panels also add a splash of modern touch. The panels are mounted into the side of the case in a seamless configuration to keep the edges looking crisp and sharp. Cooling support for the Define R6 is not without options. The case can fit up to nine 120mm fans which can be controlled by an integrated PWM enabled hub. The case also has liquid cooling support and can easily it a 420mm radiator. Fractal Design’s ModuVent technology is used in the Define R6’s design which keeps temperatures down while providing high airflow while providing excellent air filtration.

 

Upgrade Kits for the Fractal Design Define R6

First, the Fractal Design TG panel upgrade kit allows the user to replace one or both of the original Define R6 side panels with a tempered glass side panel which provides a seamless, scratch-resistant, premium look.

Next, Fractal Design also added the ability for users to upgrade the storage capacity of the original Fractal Design case with a drive bracket upgrade kit. The kit provides the ability to add two additional hard drive mounts to the inside of the Define R6 case.

The new case is available now in eight different configurations and styles. Color options include black, white, blackout and gunmetal which cost $139.99. The the tempered glass black, white, blackout and gunmetal models retail for $159.99 USD.
