Hey folks

I'm looking to build a pc around an i5 2300.
So I found this motherboard:
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Foxconn/Intel_P67_P67A-S/1.html
Now, I don't have any experience with the s1155 platform, nor with Foxconn motherboard. Is this a good motherboard? Or should I be looking at other manufacturers?

You should buy an i5 750-760 over an i5 2300. All the new i5s are pretty bad unless its the k version.
The 2300 isn't very good, it's basically impossible to overclock on it. The i5 750-760 on the other hand are great for overclocking, but they cost more than the 2300, but some motherboards are cheaper, I suggest you go P55 instead of H55 if get an i5 750-760.

^that.

Go for a k version, or just a 1st gen i5.

Hmm, I found a chart where the 2300 looks good, since I'm only using this rig to game on, that is important to me, I do fold, but not with smp client

Kinda looks like that i5 2300 is pretty good in games, doesn't it?

That's just H.A.W.X, but trust us, the 1st Gen i5 is better than the 2300, plus if you plan on Overclocking, which will help with folding and gaming a lot if thats what your gonna use it for, then getting a 1st gen is definitely the right choice.

You can actually save some money if you're not overclocking by getting a 1st Gen i5, you can purchase an H55 motherboard for about $65, I have one in my Mini PC and it works great if you're not overclocking.
